Spectacular Shannon Falls Provincial Park – Squamish British Columbia
If your travel plans include a visit to the west coast of Canada, then you must make a point of visiting the spectacular Shannon Falls Provincial Park. The Falls are located just outside the town of Squamish British Columbia, and just 58 kilometers north of the City of Vancouver.
Filled with a variety of tours and attractions, Squamish is now considered to be …
The Gateway to the Best Adventure in British Columbia!
From world class Rock Climbing, White Water Rafting, Bald Eagle Viewing, The Sea to Sky Gondola to Shannon Falls, Squamish has certainly placed itself on the map attracting visitors from around the globe.
In fact, the New York Times recently named Squamish as one of the Top 52 Places to Visit around the World.
Shannon Falls Provincial Park – British Columbia’s Third Highest Waterfall
Shannon Falls Provincial Park is located just off the picturesque Sea to Sky Highway, which is en-route to famous Whistler, BC. The Falls are situated in a well maintained BC Provincial Park.
This is a perfect place to stop for a rest and get out and enjoy the outdoors for a while. The spectacular scenery surrounding and including the Shannon Falls is well worth the visit.
With over 210 acres of park to enjoy, this is now a favorite among locals and visitors. A perfect spot for a hike and even a picnic in the warm weather.
Below, check out my quick 30 second amateur video I took on our recent visit to the Shannon Falls. Be sure to turn your speakers on! 🙂

It’s hard not to be mesmerized by the sound and site of the cascading falls dropping over 1000 feet from the top. As the snow begins to melt from the mountain peaks, the water roars as it makes its way to the bottom.
The park includes well maintained trails and steps leading to viewing platforms. Just steps from the parking lot and picnic area, access is easy for most everyone.
Excellent Hiking Around Shannon Falls Provincial Park
Named after William Shannon, a pioneer settler on the property back in the late 1800’s, the park is now one of the numerous popular hiking locations in and around Squamish to enjoy.
For serious hikers, there is a difficult hike that leads up to the top of the famous Stawamus Chief Mountain offering stunning views that will leave you breathless!
The city and area are full of interesting things to see and do for the whole family to enjoy as we did on our last visit.
Get off the highway and head into the downtown area and check out the many local shops and cafes the city offers.
It always amazes me why so many are in such a hurry in their travels especially while on vacation. Theses people are missing some of the great sites and attractions that are located just off the highway.
Instead, opting for unhealthy fast food next to the gas station as they rush to get to their destinations.
Squamish and surrounding area are a perfect example of this, so come see what you are missing!
If you are visiting this region for the first time, be sure to mark Shannon Falls and Squamish on your map as a place to see and perhaps stay during your travels.
You will not be disappointed!
Below, I have listed the Official Squamish Tourism website for your convenience for more detailed information on the many things the city has to offer.
There is also a great tourism information center located in town that is definitely worth stopping at as well!
Safe and Healthy Travels! 🙂
